Long Island Car
Accident Attorney

WE'RE IN IT TO WIN IT!

If you’ve been the victim of a serious motor vehicle accident, a Long Island car accident attorney can help you obtain the financial security you need to successfully recuperate from your injuries.

Suffering critical injuries in a car crash likely means you have a long road to recovery ahead. While you begin rebuilding your life, you shouldn’t have to deal with the burden of money-hungry insurance companies and the complexities of tort law.

As there are so many different individuals who could have played a role in the cause of your crash, your best opportunity for seeking compensation is working with a Long Island car accident lawyer to determine who is liable. Our team will work rigorously to ensure that anyone who had liability in causing your injuries answers for their negligence.

Insurance Companies and Your Claim

Dealing with the insurance company can be both time-consuming and confusing. As part of your collaboration with a car accident attorney with our firm, we will negotiate with the insurance company on your behalf.

We always urge you to consult with your lawyer before giving a statement to the insurance adjuster. This is because insurance companies, as for-profit businesses, will use any statement you give against you. Their mission is to lose as little money as possible when paying out on your claim.

New York utilizes what’s called comparative negligence when determining fault in an accident; the more at fault you are for the cause of the crash, the less compensation you are entitled to.

A Long Island auto accident lawyer with Siler & Ingber, LLP will be sure to prevent any unnecessary blame from being placed on you during the negotiations process and any litigation that follows.

Common Causes of Motor Vehicle Crashes

The operator of the other motor vehicle is most frequently the cause of the collision. Whether due to distracted driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving while fatigued, or even simply engaging in unsafe driving practices, the driver has usually contributed in some way to the car accident.

Vehicle parts manufacturers are another common culprit in causing automobile accidents. Manufacturers have a duty to report defective products to consumers, and when they don’t, they can be held accountable through a personal injury or product liability claim.

Each respective town’s municipality in New York is responsible for maintaining safe roadways. If construction work hasn’t been properly sectioned off, or if potholes aren’t filled in a timely manner and cause an accident, the town or city itself could be named as the defendant in your accident claim.

Your Injury Impacts Your Compensation

Injuries that result in permanent disabilities will have a greater effect on the damages you recover. Paralysis, traumatic brain injuries, and loss of limb, for example, will drastically change life as you knew it, while a broken bone or a laceration may heal relatively quickly and not have a substantial impact on your everyday life.

Damages Recovered for Your Car Accident

Some of the damages your attorney can seek to recover for you include all of the following:

  • Punitive damages
  • Lost wages
  • Loss of consortium
  • Loss of earning potential
  • Hospital bills
  • Prescription medications
  • Medical equipment
  • Replacement or repair of your vehicle
  • Loss of enjoyment of life
  • Mental anguish

These are just a few of the ways that a severe injury can affect your life. When life as you know it is suddenly changed because of a car accident, it can be difficult to adjust. The ability to regain control of your life shouldn’t be stalled due to expensive costs associated with your injuries.

Your car accident attorney will focus on litigating your personal injury claim so that you have the time and energy to focus on your health and wellbeing. At Siler & Ingber, LLP, we are devoted to building a powerful and compelling case so that you are awarded the maximum compensation possible.
